Village Hall Volunteers Day
9th November 2014
Below the pictures tell the story. On a bright November afternoon about twenty people from the village turned out to do their bit for the village hall. I was great fun and in just over 2 hours a huge raft of work had been completed. Signs washed and bright, plastic gutters, facias and windows scrubbed gleeming white, hundreds of daffodils planted ready for splash of yelow in the spring, more trees planed staked and guarded, old grass collected and dumped, brambles nettles and more cleared from the fence around the playground, leaves cleared from around the hall, and the kerbs on the entire drive dug out and brushed clean. Helpers ranged in age from just 3 years old to older than 80, and we all stopped for a cup of tea and piece of cake to round off the afternoon.
The playing field is a Memorial field given to the village as a way of remembering those who gave so much in the Great War. It seems very fitting that so many turned out on Remembrance Sunday to do their bit. Thank you.
Would you like to get involved with the village hall?
